Hi, I am interested in making Zein/EA particles without surfactants.

I would like help understanding process described in paper.
Pomegranate extract-loaded surfactant-free zein nanoparticles as a promising green approach for hepatic cancer- optimization and in vitro cytotoxicity

Also interested to know if process can be simplified based on desired outcome.
My goal is to end up with free loose particles.

One initial question is quantities.
Table 2: Preparations and characterization of PE-ZN NPs
This seems to suggest that Z12, the chosen Surfactant free mixture used equal parts PE:ZN at 0.2:0.2 (% W/W)?

I would be grateful if someone with experience in making nanoparticles could talk me through the process used in paper.
For Future Experiments: I have "pomegranate 40% Elagic Acid powder" not used in paper but might be usable latter on.
For this attempt, I have source for ZEIN 9010-66-6 99% purity and Ellagic Acid 98% purity.

Referring to the paper, it discusses the process that included surfactants, that I will not be using.

Nanoparticles were obtained by nanoprecipitation of zein at concentrations ranging from 0.07 to 0.28% (w/v).
EA was incorporated at concentrations ranging from 0.0018 to 0.0144% (w/v).
Zein was dissolved in 70% (v/v) ethanol, which was thereafter diluted with ultra-pure water to 14.8% (v/v), producing the colloidal formation.
Afterwards, EA solubilized in pure methanol was added and homogenized dropwise under constant stirring, resulting in EA-loaded zein nanoparticles (NE).

The nanoparticles were prepared by nanoprecipitation.
Zein concentrations ranged from 0.02 to 0.2% (w/v), while AA was incorporated at concentrations ranging from 0.0009 to 0.0018% (w/v).
First, zein was dissolved in 70% (v/v) ethanol, which was thereafter gently diluted with ultra-pure water to promote the nanoparticles formation.
Separately, AA was solubilized in 96% ethanol containing 0.108% (w/v) dimethylglyoxime (DMG), providing a long-lasting stability to the loaded-nanoparticles.
The pre-formed nanoparticles were added dropwise under constant stirring until complete homogenization, resulting in AA-loaded zein nanoparticles (ZA)

Could someone help by describing the process steps just for making the Zein/Ellagic Acid particles without surfactants.
Starting with the Zein/Ellagic Acid ratio and material quantities required.
